Statement regarding the hosting of Varsity Football matches at TUT

Varsity Sports and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) regret to announce that all Varsity Football Men’s matches scheduled to be hosted at TUT will now be played at an off-campus venue. In accordance with Varsity Sports rules the opposing team will be given the opportunity to host, and if they are unable to, then a suitable neutral venue will be determined.

This decision was taken collectively based on the feedback received by the local Venue Operations Centre (VOC) Commander that the TUT infrastructure is not suitable to host events of the magnitude of Varsity Men’s football.

“Student safety is of the utmost importance, and we feel that the correct decision has been made, given the feedback from the VOC,” says Lisa Roux, Head of Varsity Sports. “We are working with all teams in the tournament to ensure a smooth transition to new hosting venue.”
