From 20 August to 18 September, across three power-packed weekends, the Varsity Netball tournament will take place at three prestigious venues - Wits University, University of Johannesburg, and Stellenbosch University. The participating teams include title holders Maties, Wits, UFS, Madibaz, UP-Tuks, UJ, NWU, and UWC. Last year undefeated Maties took it all the way to the final, where they beat NWU 68-55, for the first Varity Netball title.
“Varsity Netball is not just about competition; it's a platform for showcasing raw talent that has the potential to shape the future of international netball. A significant number of the current Proteas team, who played in the Netball World Cup, are former or current Varsity Netball players. The tournament serves as a steppingstone for these athletes to rise to the international stage and make their mark in the sport”, says code manager Lisa Roux.
