TUT’s Commitment to Fighting Gender-Based Violence and Femicide Continues
The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has once again risen to the challenge by joining Varsity Sports in the ShowUs initiative and has chosen a zero-tolerance policy for GBV and femicide, leading the charge with a variety of impactful initiatives across its nine campuses.
One of their key initiatives is the GBV Dialogues and the Ntomabazane Conference, which provide a platform for empowering and uplifting female students. In addition, the SAED Men’s Conference plays a pivotal role in instilling discipline and empathy among male students and staff, contributing to a more compassionate and responsible community.
Their commitment extends further with the establishment of the GBV Desk at the Arts Campus and the GBV Centre at the Soshanguve Campus. These vital services work tirelessly to raise awareness and provide support to both the TUT community and the surrounding areas.
As part of this effort, all proceeds from the #ShowUs campaign will go toward supporting the ongoing work of these essential services. TUT’s Varsity Football players have proudly taken on the role of ambassadors for the campaign, championing this important cause and continuing to make an impact within their student community.
As TUT picks up the #ShowUs challenge yet again, the university stands united in its mission to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all.
