The Central University of Technology (CUT) football team is once again embracing the spirit of the ShowUs initiative, a Varsity Football CSI campaign that encourages teams to drive positive change in their communities. Building on the success of their previous efforts, CUT is committed to making a significant impact in the Mangaung Metro area through their dedicated community outreach project.

CUT football is more than just a sports division; it’s a team with a mission to enhance football skills and cultivate leadership among young athletes from underprivileged backgrounds. Their approach to community engagement is rooted in their motto, "Thinking Beyond," reflecting their commitment to mentorship and support for youth facing challenging circumstances.

The primary goal of the CUT football team’s initiative is to give back to the Mangaung Metro community. Their mission is focused on alleviating poverty and providing essential support to families in need through food distribution and skill-building activities.

Objectives

  • Poverty Alleviation: CUT aims to ease the hardships faced by local families by distributing food parcels and offering basic skills training.

  • Building Partnerships: The team seeks to strengthen ties between churches and private sector organizations to address community challenges collaboratively.

CUT football’s commitment to community support has been a longstanding tradition. Each December, the team distributes food parcels to less fortunate families, thanks to generous donations from team members, the CUT family, and the Mangaung community. Over the years, their impact has grown:

2018: Assisted 15 families

2019: Assisted 18 families

2020: Assisted 20 families

2021: Assisted 25 families

2022: Expanded support to 30 families, including school shoes and blankets

CUT’s continued involvement in the ShowUs initiative demonstrates their dedication to community upliftment. By focusing on poverty alleviation and creating strong community relationships, CUT football is not only addressing immediate needs but also paving the way for long-term positive change in Mangaung Metro.
