NWU went to the top of the Varsity Football standings with a ruthless 6-0 demolition of UCT in Mafikeng.
Striker Tshenolo Machwisa scored a hat-trick as the home side ran UCT ragged, leaving the winless Ikeys with just one log point from their four matches this season.
NWU opened the scoring in the second minute when a great run and cross from Orebotse Mongae was finished by Thatohatsi Santos who hit the ball first time to beat UCT goalkeeper David Frankel.
Frankel found himself picking the ball out of the back of the net again shortly afterwards, as Tshenolo Machwisa netted to make it 2-0 after just five minutes.
That left UCT stunned, but NWU kept the pressure on in front of their passionate home fans that had come out in their numbers once more.
Both teams were struck a blow when the referee reduced both sides to 10 men by showing two red cards. NWU defender Kyle Amon got his for a dangerous tackle, whilst UCT striker Louis-Romain Moussi Sopp was sent from the field as well for his reaction.
The masterclass from Mongae continued as another weaving run set up Machiswa who had no trouble finishing his second goal to make it 3-0 at half-time.
UCT made a determined start to the second half as they looked to work their way back into the game, but they could not find a way through the stubborn NWU defence.
NWU were having no such trouble in front of goal, and another mesmerising run from Mongae set up Matsobane Matsi for the fourth goal before Machwisa wrapped up his hat-trick to make it 5-0.
They were not done there though as a stunning shot from replacement Kagiso Modimeong found the bottom left corner to cap a resounding victory for the home side.
