Tuks continued their late season charge up the Varsity Netball ladder as they smashed hapless VUT 110-28 at the Coetzenburg Indoor Centre on Monday afternoon.
It was all Tuks from the first whistle and an early power play saw them quickly lead 22-8, going on to lead 32-10 after the first quarter. The domination continued and the were leading 55-17 at the break, scoring in almost staccato-like bursts!
Tuks were sinking the ball four or five times for every time VUT managed to score, and the ladies from Pretoria were merciless.
Tuks led 65-18, then 71-20 and then 83-20 during the third quarter and a few competition records were in danger of tumbling.
The final score of 110-28 saw Tuks become the first team to record a century of goals, claim the biggest winning margin (previously 79 goals) and also score the most goals in a match (previously 98 goals). The match total of 138 goals eclipsed the previous mark of 125 goals and Venetia Grobler scored a whopping 85 goals, converting 92,4% of her attempts!
VUT travel to Johannesburg next as they will face UJ in their last game of the season while Tuks will want another big performance as the host UWC in Pretoria in their last game before the semi-finals.
