Eastern Cape bragging rights will be on the line in Port Elizabeth on Thursday when the NMMU Madibaz host WSU to bring an end to Round Six.
Both teams are out of the running for the play-offs and currently occupy the bottom two places on the standings, but there will be plenty of pride at stake at the Madibaz Stadium.
NMMU have had something of a horror season, with just the single draw in their opening game to show for their efforts this season.
They have since suffered four consecutive defeats without scoring a single goal in their entire campaign, so they will be desperate to bounce back in front of their home fans.
It will be the first home game of the season for the Madibaz, who have suffered dearly at the hands of a particularly tough draw, so their sights will be set on avoiding the dreaded Wooden Spoon.
Things have also been pretty tough for newcomers WSU who picked up a victory in their first game of the season, only to slump to four consecutive defeats themselves.
The Mthatha-based side have scored eight goals but conceded 13 in their debut season, so they will want to show some defensive discipline against a hungry NMMU side.
The crowd in Port Elizabeth is renowned as being one of the most loyal and vocal in the competition, so despite their team’s lowly log position they are expected to come out in their numbers and get right behind their team which should make for a great atmosphere.
Prediction: The Madibaz will be desperate to score a goal given their drought this season, so we are expecting them to put the WSU defence under pressure and claim a win by one goal.
